ITV has confirmed when Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio's new show Breathtaking will air.

Starring Downton Abbey and Liar actress Joanne Froggatt, the drama will air over three nights: Monday, February 19, Tuesday, February 20, and Wednesday, February 21.

Written by Mercurio alongside Dr Rachel Clarke, who wrote the book of the same name, and doctor turned Line of Duty and The Crown actor Prasanna Puwanarajah, the show is inspired by the sacrifices that NHS staff members made during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As well as the air dates, we've also got a trailer, soundtracked by laboured breathing and audio clips from public figures during the pandemics.

In the trailer, we see workers at a hospital deal with their first suspected COVID patient, and soon realise how serious the situation is. Without sufficient PPE, they try and make do with bin bags, and give up their weekends to try and keep on top of things.

While tensions rise and arguments begin, we hear a line of dialogue about staff wondering if they themselves are going to survive, while we see a shot of a health worker looking out the window and seeing people clapping for the NHS.

There's also a short clip from the first episode, in which Froggatt's character masks up and heads onto a ward to deal with a patient in critical condition, and it doesn't look like they're going to pull through...

Breathtaking begins on Monday, February 19 on ITV1 at 9pm and airs until Wednesday, February 21. It will also be available to stream on ITVX. Line of Duty can be watched in full on BBC iPlayer now.
