Jeff Bezos Buys a Fourth Apartment in a Luxe Manhattan Building

Jeff Bezos’s latest real estate purchase may just be the missing piece of the puzzle in his plan to create an over-the-top dream house in Manhattan. The Amazon CEO recently dropped $16 million for a three-bedroom unit in an apartment building overlooking Madison Square Park, the New York Post reports. This brings the grand total of his real estate holdings in the Fifth Avenue skyscraper to $96 million. He purchased three apartment units there last June, totaling $80 million and 17,000 square feet. That purchase included a penthouse with five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, plus the two adjacent units situated on the floor below it. His newest apartment on the premises is adjacent to the rest. It is unclear how exactly he plans to combine the homes, or how many square feet the latest purchase will add to the grand total, but the Post reports that building permits were filed on Bezos’s behalf last fall to at very least combine the three units he purchased in bulk last summer.

The multibillionaire, who is the wealthiest person in the world, with a net worth of more than $125 billion, already owns the largest house in Washington, D.C., which he purchased for $23 million in early 2017. (The megamansion measures a mind-boggling 27,000 square feet, with 11 bedrooms, 25 bathrooms, five living rooms, five staircases, three kitchens, two libraries, two workout rooms, two elevators, and a huge ballroom. Bezos is reportedly looking to sink an addition $12 million into renovations.) Meanwhile, earlier this year, the internet mogul pulled out from a real estate deal to buy a 120-acre lot in Beverly Hills that previously belonged to Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen. In addition to his properties in New York and Washington, D.C., Bezos also has homes in California, Texas, and Washington state.
