Jeff Bezos Buys Three Manhattan Apartments for $80 Million

Jeff Bezos is not only taking over the internet but is also ruling the real-estate world too. It was just revealed that he purchased not one but three Manhattan apartments overlooking Madison Square Park for $80 million.

Included in the sale was a three-floor penthouse apartment, in addition to the two units below, giving the Amazon founder and CEO the potential to create a palatial 17,000-square-foot, 12-bedroom pad. According to the Wall Street Journal, it’s likely to be one of the most expensive real-estate transactions in New York City in 2019.

The 10,000-square-foot five-bedroom penthouse has nearly 6,000 square feet of terraces, four exposures facing the Madison Square park, a private elevator, a grand ballroom, a library with a marble and glass fireplace, and a seven-room master suite. There’s also a third-floor observatory that offers panoramic views of the Empire State Building, Flatiron Building, and 1 World Trade Center.

The other apartments are equally striking. One unit features another three bedrooms as well as stunning main living space. The kitchen there has “four-inch thick Calacatta marble countertops, milled wood cabinets, and top-of-the-line Gaggenau appliances," reads the listing. The master bathroom boasts “radiant-heated Thassos stone floors, fluted Carrara marble walls, [a] solid-surface Lacava tub, a steam shower, and Waterworks fixtures.” The additional four-bedroom adjoining pad has similar features as well as three city exposures from oversize windows.

The building itself has some pretty memorable amenities, such as 24-hour doorman and concierge services, a state-of-the-art fitness room, a golf simulator, a screening room, a children’s playroom, and more. Staff quarters and storage rooms are also available for purchase. No wonder it’s dubbed “the city’s most powerful address” in the listing.

This is just the billionaire's latest purchase. He already owns an apartment overlooking Central Park, four California homes, and homes in Texas, Washington state, and Washington, D.C. In fact, according to the Washington Post, Jeff Bezos owns the largest house in the nation’s capital.
