An October reopening was targeted when Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa closed over the summer for $20 million in renovations, but a mid-November completion now is on tap, the Palm Beach oceanfront hotel’s owner said Tuesday.

Given the large scale of the project — including redoing the interiors of Tideline’s 135 rooms, plus its two restaurants, lobby and other spaces — renovations can take “a little longer than expected,” owner and Palm Beach billionaire real estate investor Jeff Greene told the Daily News.

“We’re not doing anything structural, but a lot of cosmetic work throughout, (including) new flooring, new furnishings, new colors, so when we reopen and you walk in, you won't recognize it,” Greene said. “It will all look different."

Tideline, which is part of the Marriott brand, closed Aug. 7 for renovations.

Since then, its online reservation search engine has indicated guest check-ins aren’t available until Jan. 1, but that will be updated once the hotel reopens, Greene said.

Greene has owned the South Ocean Boulevard hotel since April 2011, when it was known as The Omphoy. He paid a reported $42 million for it and then in 2014 renovated and renamed it Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa.

Over the years, Greene has engaged a series of hotel management companies to run day-to-day operations at Tideline. Prior to the property’s Aug. 7 closure for renovations, Tideline was managed by Raleigh, North Carolina-based Concord Hotels.

Greene’s other area hotel holdings have included Ramada by Wyndham on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard in West Palm Beach and a Marriott hotel property in Boynton Beach.  The 68-year-old also owns the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Jupiter.

Greene is among the country’s 400 richest people, according to the latest list released Oct. 3 by Forbes. The list shows him tied in 123rd place with a net worth of $7.5 billion.

Most of Greene’s fortune is held in real estate in Los Angeles and South Florida, plus equities and other investments, according to Forbes.com.
