Jefferson County woman dies in Sunday night interstate crash in Tuscaloosa County

A 21-year-old Jefferson County woman died Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa County.

Alabama troopers said Jamya S. Tate was driving a 2019 Honda Accord around 9:45 p.m. on Interstate 20/59 about a mile north of Coaling when the crash occurred.

Tate's vehicle left the road and hit several trees before landing in a ditch. Tate was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said Tate was not using a seat belt.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are conducting an investigation.
