Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams celebrating Ice Cream for Breakfast Day

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Central Ohio-based Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will celebrate a special upcoming holiday that observes ice cream as more than just a dessert item at its scoop shops nationwide.

The gourmet ice cream chain has announced it is preparing for its eighth annual Ice Cream for Breakfast Day event, according to a release from the company.

“While we didn’t invent the day, we’ve worked hard to make it our own — and it’s a day our customers have come to love, too,” Jeni’s noted about the annual affair. “Every year we look forward to lines down the block full of folks in their PJs ready to enjoy a big bowl (or cone) of ice cream first thing in the morning.”

This year’s festivities will take place on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon at local Jeni’s locations and across the country.

Here are some details on what Jeni’s has planned:

Banana French Toast: This year’s featured breakfast ice cream flavor. It is described as “a silky banana custard shot through with pure maple syrup and cinnamon-sugar French toast gravel.” Available in shops starting Feb. 3, for a limited time.

The Banoffee L’affogato: The classic Italian affogato, which is ice cream topped with a nutty and robust Italian roast cold brew, gets a Jeni’s twist with the L’affogato. The Banoffee is two scoops of Banana French Toast ice cream topped with cold brew.

French Toast Waffle Cone: Available until noon, the shop’s Buttercrisp Waffle Cone will be transformed into a French Toast Waffle Cone, with a butter-rich, cinnamon taste.
