Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, a fan favorite in Columbus, will open its first scoop shop in the Cincinnati area at the new Factory 52 development under construction in Norwood.

"Jeni’s is a great addition to the family of curated destinations we are working to build at Factory 52,” said Nick Lingenfelter, vice president of development at Sycamore Township-based PLK Communities.

PLK is the lead developer of the $100 million, mixed-use project going up on the former U.S. Playing Card site at 4590 Beech St.

Construction of Cincinnati's first-ever Jeni’s is scheduled to begin immediately and open to the public in early 2023, according to a press release. Jeni’s has more than 65 scoop shops nationwide.

“To say I’m excited about opening our first scoop shop in Cincinnati would be an understatement,” said Jeni Britton, who founded the ice cream shop in Columbus in 2002. “This has been a long time coming. And the historic Factory 52 couldn’t be more perfect. We’re excited to join such a wonderful, growing community.”

When completed, Factory 52 will have hundreds of new residential units, restaurants and retail outlets, a new parking garage and a community park on the 21-acre site.
