Jenna Bush Hager's mom Laura Bush has beautiful response to pregnancy guilt and infertility

Jenna Bush Hager is expecting her third child, and said she felt guilty knowing other women "want these babies." So she called her mom Laura Bush.

It's hard not to feel a little bad celebrating a pregnancy when a close friend is probably grieving a miscarriage or going through fertility issues.

When Hoda Kotb called in to the "Today" show to congratulate Jenna Bush Hager on her pregnancy, which she announced on Monday, the co-hosts addressed this..

Although it wasn't the first time Kotb heard of Hager's news, she called to say: "Jenna, first of all, you’re amazing. And when you told me that you were pregnant, I still remember because … we were wondering about adoption issues, but listening to you, I was praying."

Kotb shared how Hager responded: "You said, ‘Oh Hoda, I feel so bad.' I said, 'Please don’t!' I was literally kind of holding onto a little secret and look at us, now it’s all out in the open," referring to her newly adopted daughter, Hope Catherine.

Hager then said that when she first found out she was pregnant she felt a little bad given Hoda's situation and that her sister, Barbara Pierce Bush, was also trying to get pregnant.

"When I had that conversation with Hoda, because I knew she wanted this baby, I called my mom,” Hager said. "I said, 'Barbara, who just got married, and Hoda, they want these babies, and I have this guilt.'"

Her mom's response: "'Everybody gets their babies when they’re supposed to,'" Hager shared.

She then went on to say that her mom and her grandmother also struggled with infertility and then referenced how "Today" show host, Dylan Dreyer, also just opened up about her infertility struggles.

"I don’t take this lightly. I know how blessed and lucky I am. It’s an amazing gift," said Hager, who is a mom of two. "So Hoda, thank you for your love and happiness and support and give that baby a kiss!"
