  • On her 13th wedding anniversary, Jenna Bush Hager remembered what her dad George W. Bush said when he saw her for the first time that day.

  • “We both just wept,” she recalled.

  • Jenna and her husband Henry “Hank” Hager celebrated their anniversary the day after Mother’s Day.

On Monday, Jenna Bush Hager and her husband Henry “Hank” Hager celebrated 13 years of marriage. And at work on Today with Hoda & Jenna, the former first daughter took a trip down memory lane sharing some of her favorite moments, including her “first look” with her dad George W. Bush.

“I think my dad picked me up in a pickup truck, in his pickup truck, and he said, ‘You look beautiful, baby,’ and then we both just wept,” Jenna told her co-host Hoda Kotb.

The pair got married at the Bush family’s Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas, per People, and photos from the ceremony show it taking place before a large wooden cross. Jenna told Hoda that her dad helped build it, which made it a meaningful element of their special day.

“I remember seeing Henry clearly, standing there at this cross that my dad had helped build for us,” she said. “It’s still there, so we have our Christmas services there that we put together, our kids have gotten to stand on it.”

On her May 10 Instagram story, Jenna shared some snaps from the wedding, writing, “13 years ago today! Oh what a life. Happy anniversary! Love you.”

The anniversary fell one day after two other special occasions—Mother’s Day and Hank’s birthday—both of which they celebrated with their three kids Mila, 8, Poppy, 5, and Hal, 1. They even witnessed Hal say his first sentence, which Jenna called the “best Mother’s Day gift.”

“Happy to share Mother’s Day with this dude who makes being a mama so fun and joy-filled! Happy birthday Hank!” Jenna captioned a post from the day’s festivities, including a selfie of her and Hank. “You’ll never see this but we loved celebrating you with a family dinner, homemade sheet cake and a toddler burning man.”

She told Hoda more about the little at-home party. “We put on a disco ball, we all dressed up, we danced around the room,” she said. “It was just really simple and all he wanted was kids, dinner and a sheet cake. So check, check, check.”
