Jenna Bush Hager welcomes third child: 'My dad was a little mad the name wasn't George'

Jenna Bush Hager's family is officially a party of five.

The "Today" host and her husband Henry Hager welcomed a 7 pound, 5 ounce baby boy on Friday, Aug. 2, the NBC morning show announced on Monday.

The couple named him Henry Harold "Hal" Hager, after dad and Jenna's grandfather.

She called into the show to share the news with her "Today" show colleagues.

"I have a new baby boy!" Hager said, spilling all the details of his entrance into the world.

"Henry and I met our little boy on Friday morning, so maternity happened at the perfect time," she shared.

A pre-recorded show on Friday announced Hager's maternity leave. She recently started her new role at the "Today" show, taking over Kathie Lee Gifford's spot in the fourth hour of the show for "Hoda & Jenna."

Hager said that they are calling him Hal for short and that his older sisters, Mila, 6, and Poppy, 3, have nicknamed him "Hal Pal."

The now mom-of-three talked about beautiful moment of life, even in the midst of the weekend's mass shootings.

"I think when you're holed up in a hospital room with a newborn and you see the joy and the light in his eyes, you realize this is what life's for and to make the world better for our little babes," she said, adding. "Even though the news outside these walls isn't great, you see the joy in their eyes and know that's what were here to do...to make their lives safe."

Her extended family came to meet the newest addition, Hager shared, including her parents, former president and first lady George W. and Laura Bush.

"My dad was a little mad that the name wasn't George," she joked, clarifying, "He said it was a cool name."

She described the moment when her girls held their baby brother for the first time.

"It was so beautiful. They're crazy about him."
