Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy‘s taste in food is just as impeccable as their dance moves are, it seems.

The Dancing with the Stars couple, who got married in a romantic ceremony overlooking the ocean at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palo Verdes, California, on April 13, cut into a stunning confection at the reception.

The dramatic cake was created by Vanilla Bake Shop in Santa Monica, California, and consisted of five tiers that were separated by a layer of hanging crystals for extra flair.

There were three distinct flavors: milk chocolate hazelnut with Valrhona chocolate pearls and yellow butter cake (inspired by Chmerkovskiy’s love of Nutella), banana chocolate chip (Johnson’s favorite), and dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate buttercream, caramel and Maldon flaky sea salt.

As edible decor, each tier alternated between handmade sugar rosettes and a stripe of gold shimmer. The focal point of their cake was a hand-painted gold monogram that matched the one on the dance floor.

Beyond cake, guests could enjoy hazelnut cheesecake cherry brûlée, chocolate mousse fudge torte, caramel cheesecake crème brûlée for dessert.

Of course, it wasn’t just sweets at the reception. Also on the menu for the dinner was crab-avocado salad, Hawaiian hearts of palm with sweet pepper dressing, braised seven-spiced short ribs, dill-crusted salmon, and heirloom cauliflower steak.

The couple, who got engaged in Venice in June 2018, wed in front of 200 of their closest friends and family beneath a beautiful chuppah decorated with tibet roses, ranunculus, astilbe, lisianthus, garden roses and peonies all in whites and ivories.

Johnson donned a classic Vera Wang dress for the ceremony then changed into a timeless white cap-sleeve dress designed by Tony Ward for Kleinfeld Bridal for the reception.

For their first dance, they chose “La Vie En Rose”—but it wasn’t rehearsed. “All I wanted to do was slow dance with my husband,” Johnson tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I’m sure many people expected a produced dance, but we wanted to keep it genuine and real.”
