The Morning Show season 2's latest trailer provides a first look at Julianna Margulies's character Laura Peterson.

Best known for her Emmy Award-winning turns as Alicia Florrick in The Good Wife and Carol Hathaway in ER, the actress joins Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon's cutthroat drama fixated on the world of morning TV.

BoJack Horseman's Will Arnett also features as guest newcomer Doug.

"You're a dynamo out there, I don't think they're using you in the right way," Laura tells Witherspoon's Bradley Jackson during one intriguing snippet.

Trouble's on the way, though, as Aniston's Alex Levy admits Laura "bugs" her.

The official synopsis for The Morning Show's new episodes reads: "Picking up after the explosive events of season 1, season 2 finds the Morning Show team emerging from the wreckage of Alex and Bradley's actions, to a new UBA and a world in flux, where identity is everything and the chasm between who we present as and who we really are comes into play."

The Morning Show creator Kerry Ehrin will be hoping that the sophomore season's reviews are kinder than the last ones.

Addressing the widespread negativity from critics, she commented: "In the beginning, the reviews definitely hurt. I'm not going to lie. None of us were expecting that because we all loved the show and I think the perception that it was some glossy, empty thing was just not correct.

"Character is always first and foremost with me and I love them and I feel like they're very engaging. You want to be with those people and follow them and I think the world is just crazy and wild enough that it's an interesting terrain to follow these people in."

The Morning Show season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on September 17.
