Jennifer Dugan named provost at Muskingum University

NEW CONCORD − Jennifer J. Dugan has been named to the new provost at Muskingum University in New Concord.

Dugan comes from the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky. She served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences since 2019. As dean, Dugan focused on the student experience by providing direction in the development and implementation of new programs and strategic collaborations with campus and community partners. She is an advocate for education and growth in the Appalachian region and beyond.

“I am excited to welcome Dugan to Muskingum University,” President Susan Hasseler said. “Her extensive teaching, program development and leadership experience will support our student-centered mission and continue Muskingum’s tradition of academic excellence and regional and national impact.”

Reporting to the president, the provost serves as the chief academic officer for Muskingum University, providing university-wide leadership for academic affairs. Dugan began her appointment on July 1.

Dugan earned her doctorate in political science from the University of California and her bachelor’s in political science from California State University. She is an American Council on Education Fellow (2009 to 2010) and has served on the board of the Kentucky ACE Women’s Network.
