Jennifer Garner Reportedly Isn't Ready for Ex Ben Affleck to Introduce Their Kids to Ana de Armas

Some things just take time, and that’s okay. Case in point? Right now, Jennifer Garner doesn’t want her kids to meet Ben Affleck’s new girlfriend Ana de Armas — which makes sense, given he and de Armas have only been “officially dating” for a few weeks. Still, social distancing has apparently made their hearts grow fonder, and the two have been spotted cozying up a lot recently. Enough, it would seem, for Garner to set some boundaries.

Married from 2005 to 2018, Garner and Affleck now co-parent their three children: daughters Violet, 14, and Seraphina, 11, and son Samuel, 8. They’ve both been in relationships since their split, with Garner having moved on with businessman John Miller. Affleck and Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus made a go of it for around a year before they split, at which point he was rumored to have a short fling with Playboy model Shauna Sexton.

But since meeting de Armas on the set of Deep Water in November 2019, Affleck is reportedly smitten. Still, he understands why Garner isn’t ready for introductions to be made yet. “Ben is understanding,” a source told Us Weekly. “[He] said he would work with Jennifer to prepare the kids for meeting [Ana].”

Based on Affleck’s recent comments about Garner to the press, it’s not surprising he would be receptive to such a request from Garner. Speaking to People in February about how he co-parents with his ex-wife, the Way Back actor said, “I’m very grateful and respectful of her. Our marriage didn’t work, and that’s difficult. Both of us really believe that it’s important for kids to see their parents respect one another and get along, whether they’re together or not.”

He continued, “It’s important for my kids to know that I respect and care about Jen, and she treats me the same way. I have a lot of respect and gratitude toward her. And I wish her the very best.”

And while girlfriends may come and go, Affleck clearly understands that his relationship with Garner needs to be healthy since it isn’t going anywhere. “When you have children with somebody, you’re connected to them forever,” he said.
