Jennifer Lawrence has described getting married as an "awful" and "stressful" experience.

The Hunger Games star took a break from acting in 2019, during which time she married Cooke Maroney, with the pair subsequently welcoming a baby boy together in 2022.

Despite often being described as one of the best days in someone's life, Lawrence had a differing account of her wedding day, as she recalled her emotions on the day – noting that she was stressed about making sure her guests, including her Silver Linings Playbook co-star Robert De Niro, were having an enjoyable time and being well looked after.

"Being a bride is so stressful," she told E! News on the red carpet for the Golden Globe Awards. "You're not having fun. You're just like: 'Is that group having fun? Is everybody having fun? Are you hungry?'

“So I looked over and I saw Bob (De Niro), who doesn't know anybody, so he's kind of wandering around and I immediately was like 'no'. This isn't what he wants to be doing. I went over and said 'go home' – he was nice and spoke to my parents but he left and it made me feel better.

"I'll never forget, I was freaking out about the guests being cold. All my friends were lying, they were like: 'nobody's cold, everything is fine'. My mum was like: 'it's freezing out there, my grandmother almost died'," Lawrence added, pulling an exasperated face.

Lawrence attended the ceremony after being nominated for the award of Best Actress – Musical or Comedy for her performance in No Hard Feelings, with the prize eventually going to Emma Stone for Poor Things.

No Hard Feelings featured a scene in which Lawrence fights off clothes thieves whilst in the nude, with the star revealing she had no hesitation over filming the scene.

"Everyone in my life and my team is doing the right thing and going, 'Are you sure? I didn’t even have a second thought. It was hilarious to me," she said.

No Hard Feelings will stream on Sky Cinema from January 19.
