Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she is keen to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise.

While speaking to Variety about her upcoming film No Hard Feelings, Lawrence revealed that she would be "totally" up for a return to Panem should the opportunity ever arise.

"Oh, my God – totally!" she said, adding that her producer next to her "clutched her heart" after hearing the revelation.

"If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100%."

Lawrence starred as Katniss across across the four films The Hunger Games (2012), Catching Fire (2013), Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) and Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015).

The role is one of Lawrence's best known to date, launching her career as an A-list actress. She has since appeared in films such as Mother!, Don't Look Up and Silver Linings Playbook, with the latter winning her an Oscar for Best Actress.

She will next be seen in raunchy coming-of-age comedy No Hard Feelings, playing out-of-work Uber driver Maddie who is hired by a wealthy couple to seduce their college-age son.

Lawrence's comments come amid renewed popularity around the franchise, with prequel film The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes set to be released later this year.

Set 64 years before the events of main series, the film explores the backstory of future Panem president Coriolanus Snow as he navigates life after his family's fall from grace.

Tom Blyth plays the role of Coriolanus (played by Donald Sutherland in the original films) with Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer and Viola Davis also starring.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be released in cinemas on November 17, 2023. The previous Hunger Games movies are available to stream on Prime Video UK.
