Lo is a fabulous actress and no one can deny her increasing star power. But J. Lo? A stripper? She's way too classy for that right? Over on the movie review site www.rogerebert.com Hustler's received three stars with critic Christy Lemire commenting on Lopez's character;

Ramona is, of course, the powerhouse driving the action; she’s both the brash ringleader and the warm mother hen, and Lopez fully embodies all her character’s contradictions and complexities. (Early on, during a chilly nighttime smoke break on the strip club rooftop, Ramona invites Destiny to climb inside her fur even before they’ve introduced themselves to each other. Who could possibly say no?)

Lopez herself has had nothing but good things to say about the role and she's even taken some life lessons away from her time as Ramona Vega. Showbiz Cheatsheet reports in a recent interview Lopez opened up about the role.

“Training for pole dancing was painful and really, really difficult,” Lopez told PEOPLE. “I’ve learned a lot of different things for movies, (from) martial arts to shooting, but this was something totally different,” she continued. “I was bruised everywhere, chafed, burned – people don’t realize you can’t have body makeup or tights on because you have to slide and it has to be skin to pole.”

However, it wasn't all sexy dance moves that Lopez learned during her time on the pole. For the first time ever Lopez admits that the role changed her in many different ways.

“It’s the first time I really got the vulnerability, the feeling of being exposed,” she explained. “But I pulled my G-string up and did what I had to do as an actress. This is my job, what I signed up for.”After putting her fears of being exposed to the side, Lopez found that playing the confident and fearless Ramona actually had its own lasting effects on her.

“I’ve come to a place where I feel the most comfortable and most powerful I’ve ever felt,” she told People. “I feel more confident and at peace with who I am and more aware of what I bring to the table, but that was a huge journey.”And the journey is not over for Lopez either since she's now been nominated for a Golden Globe, and she has the character of Ramona to thank. Lopez took to Twitter to send a couple of shouts and share her appreciation for the nomination. Congrats J. Lo!
