Jennifer Lopez & Will Smith Almost Remade ‘A Star Is Born’ & We Can't Unsee It

It appears Bradley Cooper wasn’t the only celeb eyeing a potential remake of A Star Is Born.

In a brand-new interview with Extra, Jennifer Lopez revealed that she almost appeared in an early ’00s version of the popular movie. In fact, the singer, 49, was in talks to star in a remake with Will Smith. Just let that sink in.

“Will and I talked about it, and talked about developing the script,” she said. “It just never took off. Projects are like that.” Casual.

A Star Is Born first premiered in 1937 and was remade twice before Cooper got his hands on the rights. Although he chose Lady Gaga as his leading lady, Lopez couldn’t be more thrilled with how the movie turned out.

“I’m really proud of Bradley, [getting a Golden Globe nomination] for directing his first film,” she added. “And watching Gaga do her thing in the movie, it’s just great. Everything happens in its own divine timing.”

Too bad it never panned out, because our interest is seriously piqued. (We’re looking at you, Will.)
