Jennifer Lopez Thanks Fans After ‘World Of Dance’ Premiere
Jennifer Lopez couldn’t be happier with the high ratings that “World of Dance” Season 1 received on its premiere night.
On her Instagram account, the executive producer and judge of the NBC reality TV show shared a video of herself singing some lines from “If You Had My Love.” Lopez captioned the clip by saying that she’s extremely happy that fans tuned in and loved the pilot episode of “World of Dance.”

In a follow-up post, the “Shades of Blue” actress shared a GIF of herself reacting to one of the performers in episode 1. A stunning Lopez wearing an orange dress moves her body, as well as her hands, while praising one of the performers. Lopez said that the way she moves in the GIF is exactly how she feels the morning after the premiere. The exec also invited fans to watch the second episode of “World of Dance” on June 13.
According to TV Line, NBC’s dance reality TV competition garnered a total of 9.7 million viewers and a 2.4 demo rating. This made “World of Dance” the most-watched summer reality show in nine years since ABC’s “Wipeout.” The reality show was also instantly dubbed as the highest-rated summer TV show in five years since NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior.”
“World of Dance” featured a slew of acts who won the hearts of judges Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo. Majority of the performers who made it to the qualifiers will advance to the next round of competition. But in the end, only one act will bring home the $1 million grand prize.
Meanwhile, another reality TV competition on NBC, “America’s Got Talent” Season 12, premiered on Tuesday night with 12.1 million viewers and 2.6 demo ratings. This marked the show’s six-year premiere audience high, while the demo remained almost the same.
Elsewhere, FOX’s “Prison Break” wrapped up season 5 with 2.34 million viewers and a 0.9 rating. The CW’s “iZombie” suffered a massive drop with only 900,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating. ABC’s “Downward Dog” received a 0.7 rating and a total of 3.8 million viewers. The sitcom was followed by “Imaginary Mary” with 2.2 million viewers and a 0.6 rating.
