Jerome Hunter, who has played the past two seasons for the Xavier University Musketeers after spending his first two seasons of college basketball with the Indiana Hoosiers, will return to XU next season and use his additional year of eligibility, according to a report Friday via Twitter from Jon Rothstein that Hunter later confirmed with a tweet.

Hunter, a 6-foot-7 forward from Pickerington, Ohio, transferred to XU in May 2021 after playing two seasons in Bloomington. He averaged 7.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.8 minutes per game last season in 37 games, but played a pivotal role after entering the team's starting lineup to replace the injured Zach Freemantle.

Hunter averaged a team-best 19 points per game in Xavier's two NCAA tournament wins, shooting 14-of-21 from the field.

Hunter did not participate in Xavier's Senior Night ceremony last month before a win against Butler to conclude the regular season.

Center Jack Nunge thanked XU Thursday, announcing that he's done playing college basketball and will pursue a pro career. Guards Adam Kunkel and Souley Boum are out of eligibility, and Colby Jones declared for the 2023 NBA draft. The Muskies have received commitments from Western Kentucky transfer Dayvion McKnight and former Moeller High School standout and IU transfer Logan Duncomb.
