Jerry Jones: Cowboys rookies Trevon Diggs, Tyler Biadasz may return in 2020

If there’s one word Dallas Cowboys fans everywhere wish could be taken from the American lexicon it would be injuries. They’ve devastated the roster on both sides of the ball, seemingly every week. There was some bit of encouragement when it was reported that Blake Jarwin was working out with an athletic trainer at practice Friday.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offered some hopeful news on a few other players who have hit the injury report. On an appearance with 105.3 The Fan, he said rookies Trevon Diggs and Tyler Biadasz have a chance to return before the season ends.

Diggs suffered a broken foot during the Cowboys Week 9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The rookie was showing signs of why the Cowboys took him in the second round. In his last five games, Diggs recorded 22 tackles, eight passes defended and hauled in his first two career interceptions against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8. He has 48 tackles and 10 passes defended for the season in just nine games.

Biadasz has gotten some valuable experience as a rookie as well. After veteran center Joe Looney went down with an MCL sprain against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4, he logged every snap from that point through Week 8. He played well enough to be named to the midseason All-Rookie team for Pro Football Focus but suffered a hamstring injury during pregame warmups before the Cowboys battled the Steelers just days before.

These two promising rookies had their seasons come to a halt when they were finding their groove. Only time will tell if they return in 2020, or if it’ll be worth it depending on the Cowboys playoff situation.
