The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said there was an “active and ongoing” homicide investigation following the death of a New Jersey councilwoman on Wednesday, February 1.
In a statement posted to Facebook, the office said authorities received reports of shots fired in Sayreville, New Jersey, on the evening of February 1.
Officers found 30-year-old councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour deceased in her vehicle when they arrived at the scene, according to the statement.
The statement said Dwumfour had “sustained multiple gunshot wounds.”
New Jersey Gov Phil Murphy said he was “stunned by the news of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour’s murder last evening in an act of gun violence.” Murphy urged anyone with information to contact Sayreville local law enforcement. Credit: @Pettydee__ via Storyful
