New Jersey couple reported missing in Barbados after renting jet ski Monday

Two New Jersey residents were reported missing Tuesday in the middle of a vacation to Barbados, police said.

Montclair residents Oscar Suarez, 32, and Magdalena Devil, 25, were last seen Monday at about 2:30 p.m. EDT when they rented a jet ski. They went out to sea and have not been seen since, according to Royal Barbados Police spokesman Rodney Inniss. They were both wearing life jackets.

When they did not return, an employee with the jet ski company contacted other jet ski businesses to search for them. Police and the Barbados Coast Guard joined the search down to the Bridgetown Port but neither the couple nor the jet ski were found.

Suarez and Devil arrived in Barbados Saturday and were planning to leave June 29. Police said they were staying at Discovery Bay hotel in Trents Holetown St. James, north of the capital of Bridgetown, but did not check back into the hotel.

The Barbados police also confirmed the couple's address in Montclair.

Anyone with information about Suarez and Devil's whereabouts can contact Holetown police at 246-419-1700 or their local police department.
