Jersey Mike's opens Milford shop. Fundraiser to benefit high school athletics

MILFORD — Jersey Mike’s Subs opens the doors of its newest shop today by launching a fundraising campaign for the Milford High School Athletic Department.

Last week, company owners Brian O’Loughlin and Brian Venables began offering up to 7,500 coupons for sandwiches at the Milford Crossing location in exchange for $3 minimum donations. Customers who participated can use the coupons through Sunday.

The program has the potential to raise more than $20,000.

Brian O'Loughlin, franchise co-owner of Jersey Mike's, is ready for Wednesday's opening of the sandwich chain's newest shop at the Milford Crossing shopping center at 128 Medway Road (Route 109), April 4, 2022.

“We've had our eye on Milford for a long time because it's an awesome town and a great community,” O’Loughlin told the Daily News. “The fundraiser is really good for us because if we can open our doors with a relationship with the high school, it makes for an easier transition into the community and we're also able to hire a lot of good staff and team members.”

Founded in 1956 and based in Manasquan, New Jersey, the chain is known for its cold and hot sub sandwiches, from its best-selling BLTs to more than a dozen types of cheesesteak subs.

Jersey Mike's has more than two dozen shops in Massachusetts. It opened its Franklin store on West Central Street three years ago with a similar fundraiser for the athletic department at Franklin High School.

In Milford, the sub shop is in a 1,260-square-foot space at Milford Crossing, 128 Medway Road (Route 109), between Chipotle and Eros Nails & Spa. The space was formerly used by a Hair Cuttery salon.

O’Loughlin said he and his partner look forward to bringing to Milford their subs, which are always made “Mike’s Way" — with fresh vegetables, onions, lettuce and tomatoes — and topped off with “The Juice,” a signature blend of red wine vinegar and olive oil.

The newest Jersey Mike's sub shop, at the Milford Crossing Plaza on Medway Road (Route 109) in Milford, is poised for its grand opening on Wednesday.

“Our slogan is ‘A Sub Above’ and we try to live up to that by giving back but also in the products we make,” O’Loughlin said. “All of our meats and cheese are fresh to order, our cheese steaks are grilled fresh on the grill, we order our produce locally, we sort it daily, we slice it fresh every day, our breads are baked fresh every day.

“It feels great to open in Milford and we're excited."
