BlueClaws partner with Wreaths Across America in new one-of-a-kind program

The BlueClaws have partnered with Wreaths Across America on a one-of-a-kind program through which fans can both reserve a ticket to BlueClaws Military Appreciation Night on July 7 and sponsor a wreath to be laid at a soldier’s grave this December.

Military Appreciation Night at ShoreTown Ballpark is set for Thursday, July 7 at 7:05 p.m., and is presented by OceanFirst Bank.

There are several options for fans to participate in this one-of-a-kind program.

  • Sponsor a wreath and donate a ticket for a veteran to enjoy Military Appreciation Night for $15

  • Sponsor a wreath, donate a ticket for a veteran to enjoy Military Appreciation Night, and receive a ticket to the game for yourself for $25.

All tickets for veterans will be distributed directly through accredited channels.

“Wreaths Across America and the BlueClaws have been talking about this program for the better part of three years, and are thrilled to launch the program heading into Military Appreciation Night,” said Mel Russen, board member and local location leader for Wreaths Across America.

“The wreaths that are sponsored through this program will be placed on gravesites of local veterans around the Jersey Shore. Additional wreaths will go to Arlington National Cemetery for the nationwide Wreaths Across America Day on December 17, 2022.”

Military Appreciation Night will include special ceremonies before and after the game. Fans are encouraged to get to their seats early.

“We’ve been very excited to launch this program with Mel and Wreaths Across America,” said Bob McLane, BlueClaws senior VP of ticket sales and service. “We are working with a truly special organization and this program will serve to both bring veterans out to the ballpark but also to provide wreaths for local veterans’ graves.”

In 2021, Wreaths Across America laid over 2.3 million wreaths at over 3,100 locations around the country, including in all 50 states.

"Since we opened the Sand Bar in 2018, these Summer Concert Series Saturday nights have been extremely popular," said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. "We have assembled a great group of bands for this year and we can't wait to get started."

The Sand Bar is located down the left field line at ShoreTown Ballpark. Nearly 1,000 square feet, the area includes ample space for dancing, plus picnic tables and multiple points for beer and drink sales.

BlueClaws within 100,000 fans of 8 million

A sold-out crowd on Thursday night at ShoreTown Ballpark helped push the BlueClaws closer to the 8-million fan mark. The BlueClaws welcomed 8,026 fans to the ballpark on Thursday night as part of Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond, which included a character appearance by Spider-Man.

The crowd on Thursday followed an attendance of 8,071 on Opening Night. It's just the second time since 2007 that the BlueClaws have welcomed two crowds of at least 8,000 before Memorial Day. The previous time it happened was 2017 when Tim Tebow spent the weekend at the Shore playing for the Columbia Fireflies.

The BlueClaws, who officially crossed the 7.9 million fan mark on Wednesday, are now within 88,034 of 8-million fans.

"This is going to be a special summer and it's always great to see the support the community has shown the BlueClaws," said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. "It's fun that we got to 7.9 million just at the start of the Jersey Shore summer and can't wait for 8-million."

The 8-millionth fan will win a prize package that includes tickets, merchandise, and experiences. The full prize package will be announced at a later date.

Ironically, the BlueClaws welcomed their 7-millionth fan on July 27, 2017, just hours after the new ownership group was introduced.

ShoreTown Ballpark has received several "Jersey Shore-themed" renovations since ShoreTown Baseball took over. In 2018, The Boardwalk opened in centerfield featuring popular boardwalk games. Manasquan Mini Golf also debuted, a nine-hole family course that is open during every BlueClaws game. Finally, the Sand Bar, located in left field, debuted as the hub for Thirsty Thursdays and live music inside the ballpark.

This year, the BlueClaws opened the Blue Wave Bar on the suite level. Accessible for every fan in the ballpark, the Blue Wave Bar features several seafood-themed items unavailable anywhere else in the stadium with a Jersey Shore-themed décor.

The BlueClaws incorporate the Jersey Shore into ticket offerings as well.

"Our Boardwalk Bundle packages for mini plan holders and groups continue to be extremely popular," said Ricciutti. "Fans get a game ticket, hot dog, soda, novelty ice cream, and boardwalk game ticket. It's really in many ways the best of the Jersey Shore all wrapped into time with friends and family at the ballpark!"

In addition to Memorial Day weekend, the BlueClaws will also be home for Father's Day on June 19 and the 4th of July. The Father's Day game features the always popular post-game father-child catch on the field and the game on the 4th of July will be followed by the biggest fireworks show of the season in ShoreTown.

"A BlueClaws game is supposed to be about making memories," said Ricciutti. "We work hard to do that every day, whether it's a Marvel-themed night with Spider-Man, playing catch on the field with Dad on Father's Day, or watching a fireworks show with your friends and family to celebrate America.

"It's what we're all about, and with the summer here, we're ready to welcome everyone home!"

BlueClaws to host free PLAY BALL weekend clinic on June 10

The BlueClaws, in conjunction with Major League Baseball’s PLAY BALL Weekend will host a free clinic under the lights at ShoreTown Ballpark on Friday, June 10 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Players will receive entry-level instruction designed for players between the ages of 5 and 12.

Registration is free but must be made online in advance of the event. Registration begins at 6 p.m. and the clinic will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

PLAY BALL Weekend is a Major League Baseball initiative to promote the games of baseball and softball to youth across the MLB and MiLB markets. Youth are encouraged to learn more about the games and will be provided opportunities to gain new skills in a fun environment.

Attendees will be split into groups and rotation among several stations. Stations include home run derby, pop-ups and grounders, agilities, base-running, and a bat & ball game.

“We’re excited to host PLAY BALL Weekend at ShoreTown Ballpark,” said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. “As a community leader, we love hosting community events like this one. We’re very much looking forward to June 10th!”

Select concessions will be available for parents/siblings to enjoy during the clinic.

BlueClaws baseball Is for everyone – team to host third Pride Night on June 3

BlueClaws baseball is for everyone! That continues to be the team’s message as the BlueClaws prepare for their third Pride Night, to be held on Friday, June 3. Pride Night at ShoreTown Ballpark is presented by Coca-Cola.

The BlueClaws held their first Pride Night, presented by Coca-Cola, in 2019 in front of a capacity, sold-out crowd, and despite pandemic-restrictions, held another successful event in 2021.

“We consider ourselves to be a very open and inclusive organization and proud member of the community,” said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. “We want to show the LGBT community that they are, and always will be, welcome at BlueClaws games!”

"It seems so simple–players should be judged on their athletic ability–not by who they love or how they identify. Unfortunately, the sports world can often be the deepest, darkest place in the closet. That's why Garden State Equality is proud to partner with the Jersey Shore BlueClaws on their annual Pride Night–an evening that sends a message of positivity to LGBTQ people and their families,” said Christian Fuscarino, executive director of Garden State Equality. You have to imagine how inspiring it is for all those young kids sitting in the stands—who might be gay or transgender—when they look up and see their home team saying: 'It’s okay to be who you are. We support you.' That’s life changing."

Pride Night includes a BlueClaws Pride Night cap giveaway for the first 1,500 fans that will be handed out beginning when the gates open at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to stay for post-game fireworks.

The BlueClaws will also be wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game.

“BlueClaws games are about a fun night out with your friends, family, and colleagues. It’s about relaxing, laughing, and having a great time together. This notion has nothing to do with sexual orientation, race, gender, or economic status. It’s a universal notion of affordable, wholesome entertainment. It’s nice to be able to celebrate that with the community.”

Food specials that night include rainbow layer cake in ShoreTown Soft Serve with drink specials available in the Sand Bar and Blue Wave Bar.

Additional resources will be made available for fans at the game. Those interested in attending the night or partnering with the BlueClaws are encouraged to email

BlueClaws set for amazing Jersey Shore summer

ShoreTown is your town! Boardwalk games, mini golf, ice cream, and a relaxing night out with the family are all staples of a BlueClaws game, and much of the Jersey Shore experience can be found right at ShoreTown Ballpark. With Memorial Day around the corner, the BlueClaws are set to make 2022 yet another special summer!

The BlueClaws are home for two weeks, playing 12 games in 13 days beginning May 24, with only a day off on Memorial Day briefly pausing a dynamic two week stretch of family fun with the Jersey Shore’s Hometown Team.

“Over the last few years, we’ve worked very hard to bring the Jersey Shore experience to ShoreTown Ballpark,” said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. “We’re ready for another great summer, our second as the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.”

This year, through a partnership forged between Major League Baseball and Marvel, the BlueClaws welcome Spider-Man to ShoreTown Ballpark on Thursday, May 26 as part of Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond. The night includes special Dr. Strange inspired jerseys that will be worn by the players that night and auctioned off with proceeds to benefit BlueClaws Charities.

Memorial Day weekend itself features games through Sunday. Of course, kids run the bases after every game thanks to Children’s Specialized Hospital.

ShoreTown Ballpark brings together many aspects of the Jersey Shore that make the area so special. This year, the BlueClaws opened the Blue Wave Bar, a new full service bar/restaurant located on the Luxury Suite level. The area, open to all fans at every game, includes select menu items, including seafood items, not available anywhere else in the ballpark.

“We’re thrilled with the debut of the Blue Wave Bar,” said Ricciutti. “Its coastal décor fits in perfectly with the Jersey Shore branding of the ballpark. The food is great, the atmosphere energetic, and the response from the fans has been overwhelmingly positive.”

The boardwalk games added in 2018 – Cat Rack, Balloon Darts, Ring Toss, Hoop Shot, and Goblet Toss –replicate the boardwalk experience, complete with the giant prizes. Boardwalk Bundle tickets are the team’s most popular group option and include not just a hot dog, soda, and novelty ice cream, but also a boardwalk game ticket for the area.

“Boardwalk Bundle tickets continue to be very popular into 2022,” said Ricciutti. “Particularly, our Five Game Mini Plans, which come with a hot dog, soda, novelty ice cream, and boardwalk game tickets for our best games of the year, have shown to be a great item for families that are looking to save money in these challenging times.

“The best part is, when you come to the game, you don’t even have to take your wallet out of your pocket.”

Manasquan Bank Mini Golf Course, located down the right field line, offers fans a quick nine hole respite from the game. Each hole is also named after a former BlueClaws player, with holes dedicated to Ryan Howard, and Cole Hamels, among others.

The Sand Bar, located in left field, also opened in 2018 and includes live music at select games. The area includes picnic-style seating and is adjacent to the BlueClaws Fire Pits, now presented by Offshore BBQ. These increasingly popular spots come with five tickets in special Adirondack-style seats, a private fire pit, and great view of the game!

The perfect capper to any night out at the Shore is a delicious cone of soft-serve ice cream. At Shore Town Soft Serve, located in right field adjacent to the mini golf course, fans can enjoy an ice-cold chocolate or vanilla soft-serve ice cream cone to cap off a night out at the ballpark.

“Part of being the Jersey Shore’s team is also about building on the wonderful experiences you can have around the Shore and making that even better here at the ballpark,” said Ricciutti. “We’re able to bring the boardwalk, bring the mini golf, and bring the ice cream here and combine that all with the backdrop of a ballgame and a night out with family. What could be better?”

Well, you can have an ice cold BlueClaws beer! Thanks to a new partnership with Heavy Reel Brewing Company, Reel Claw, a 5% ABV BlueClaws IPA debuted at a sold-out Opening Night. The beer is available inside the ballpark, at Heavy Reel in Seaside Heights, and at select retail locations around the area.

“This is a great time of the year for everyone at the Jersey Shore, including the BlueClaws.” said Ricciutti. “We’re ready for the summer and can’t wait to welcome everyone to ShoreTown!”

Kick off summer with the BlueClaws and Heavy Reel Brewing Co.

Summer unofficially arrives at the end of the month, but the BlueClaws and Heavy Reel Brewing Company are kicking things off early. The BlueClaws will host a Summer Kickoff event at Heavy Reel Brewing Company on Thursday, May 19 from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in Seaside Heights.

Reel Claw, the popular new BlueClaws beer, brewed by Heavy Reel, will be showcased at the event with $6 pints available. The beer, which debuted on Opening Night at ShoreTown Ballpark, is a 5% ABV Session IPA that pairs perfectly with watching baseball at the ballpark all summer long. Reel Claw is brewed with an oat and wheat heavy grist bill and hopped with Citra and Mosaic. The end result is flavors and aromas of tropical citrus and summer melon.

This event is open to the public, but the BlueClaws ask that fans interested in attending RSVP in advance.

“We’ve been thrilled with the launch of Reel Claw and our partnership with Heavy Reel,” said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. “This event is going to be a great laid-back night at an amazing new venue as we get summer underway!”

"The launch of Reel Claw has been very exciting over the last few weeks," said Jeff Greco, owner of Heavy Reel Brewing Company. "We're excited to welcome the BlueClaws and the public to the event on May 19th and look forward to an amazing summer!"

Heavy Reel Brewing Company is located at 1520 Boulevard in Seaside Heights.

Food samples will be provided courtesy of Offshore BBQ. Plus attendees can order additional food and beer as well.

Reel Claw is available at ShoreTown Ballpark’s Blue Wave Bar, 732 Brew, and Sand Bar. Plus, fans can get the beer at Heavy Reel and select retail locations around the Jersey Shore.

Home Runs For Heroes reaches half-million in donations

When DJ Stewart homered on April 9 onto the grass berm above the left field wall at ShoreTown Ballpark, it meant far more than the first BlueClaws home run of the year, and Stewart's 16th professional home run. This particular blast brought OceanFirst Foundation's donations to $500,000 in the history of the Home Runs for Heroes Program.

Home Runs for Heroes, which began in 2009, pairs military-based non-profit charities and charitable programs with each of the nine innings in a game. Each BlueClaws home run hit at ShoreTown Ballpark means a $1,000 donation for the corresponding organization(s). Since select innings have multiple organizations tied in, some home runs, including Stewart's on Saturday, generate $2,000 in donations.

"OceanFirst Foundation is excited to be back for a 14th season of Home Runs for Heroes alongside our long-time partners – the Jersey Shore BlueClaws and Townsquare Media. This year, we have 14 amazing charity partners that serve our nation’s military heroes and veterans in times of need," said Katherine Durante, executive director of the OceanFirst Foundation. "We are honored to be able to give back to our heroes through this program and wish the BlueClaws another record-breaking season!"

Stewart's home run came in the fourth inning, raising $1,000 each for both Chariot Riders and the Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Fund.

"On behalf of Townsquare Media and its shore radio stations (92.7 WOBM, 94.3 The Point, 105.7 The Hawk, Cat Country 96.7/104.1) as well as our Shore Sports Network we are honored to be part of this program again," said Kevin Williams, director of the Shore Sports Network. "Home Runs for Heroes not only provides financial support for these amazing organizations but it allows them to have a greater presence in the community so the public is aware of what they do for former and active duty military members and their families."

Entering this year, OceanFirst Foundation had donated $499,000, including over $90,000 last year alone when the BlueClaws hit a franchise record 52 longballs at home.

This year's participating charities are as follows:

  • 1st Inning - American National Red Cross

  • 2nd Inning - Army Emergency Relief

  • 3rd Inning - Catholic Charities (Diocese of Trenton), Ma Deuce Deuce

  • 4th Inning - Chariot Riders, Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Fund

  • 5th Inning - Vetwork, Navy-Marine Corps Relief

  • 6th Inning - National Guard State Family Readiness Council, GI Go Fund

  • 7th Inning - Cape May Coast Guard Foundation, Jewish Federation of Southern Ocean County

  • 8th Inning - Deborah Hospital Foundation

  • 9th Inning (and Extras) - Homes for All

"Military organizations and programs are of such high importance to the BlueClaws, and we're proud to be a part of this program," said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. "When the BlueClaws hit home runs here at ShoreTown Ballpark, they don't just help our team win, but they provide material support to our military heroes. Here's to a summer of home runs!"

BlueClaws, RWJBarnabas Health announce enhanced partnership

The BlueClaws and RWJBarnabas Health announced that as an extension of a longtime partnership, RWJBarnabas Health will now serve as the official health care provider of the Jersey Shore BlueClaws and a “BlueClaws Founding Partner.”

“The BlueClaws and RWJBarnabas Health have been part of the fabric of the Jersey Shore for many years. While we are different organizations, we are also very like-minded organizations,” said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. “We’re proud to call RWJBarnabas Health BlueClaws Founding Partners.”

“Both of our organizations have been committed to enhancing the lives of the community members we serve at the beautiful Jersey Shore,” said Bill Arnold, president and chief executive officer of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and president of RWJBarnabas Health Southern Region. “From supporting outdoor fun for families and friends to getting kids moving in the local schools, we are so proud of our long-term partnership with the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.”

The enhanced partnership will include an interactive RWJBarnabas Health Promo Zone. Located in centerfield, the RWJBarnabas Health Promo Zone will be open during weekend games and offer free activities for kids throughout the game.

Fans will also find “Healthy Together Tips” on display throughout the ShoreTown Ballpark concourse, which are easy to follow reminders for healthful living. RWJBarnabas Health is also the sponsor of the Claws Crew, which will entertain, educate and get the community moving by participating in a variety of community events throughout the summer.

BlueClaws set for another amazing summer at the Shore

With the flowers set to bloom around the ballpark, the sun is about to rise on another BlueClaws summer. The 66-game home schedule kicks off on April 8 with Opening Night at the Jersey Shore, presented by Jenkinson's Boardwalk. It's the 21st Opening Night in BlueClaws history and one that represents a more "normal" opening for the first time in three years.

"This is always a great time of year, but we think this opening in particular is going to be extra-special," said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti. "It's been three years since the last Opening Night that felt like Opening Night – no masks, no social distancing, just a great night out for friends and family. Next Friday, and all summer, will be great."

The BlueClaws will eclipse the 8-million fan mark later this season. They enter the year just 137,446 fans shy of the milestone.

"That promises to be one of the highlights of the year," said Ricciutti. "It's a milestone that is celebrated by the 8-millionth fan and by our staff, but is really a celebration of the entire Jersey Shore community that has supported the BlueClaws so well over the last two decades."

The biggest upgrade to the ballpark this year comes upstairs with the all-new Blue Wave Bar. This full-service bar/restaurant will be open to every fan at every game. Set to a Jersey Shore-themed coastal décor, the Blue Wave Bar will feature select food items unavailable anywhere else in the ballpark like fried calamari, clam strips, and a crab cake sandwich.

"Over the last several years, we have worked hard to bring the look and feel of the Jersey Shore to the ballpark. We started by adding mini golf and boardwalk games to the park in 2018. Last year, we debuted the Sand Bar, a fun outdoor food and drink space with live music. Now, we're excited to open a new bar and restaurant, the Blue Wave Bar, inside on the second level," said Ricciutti.

Fans with season tickets, half-season tickets, 10-game partial plans, and 5-game mini plans will receive 10% off their orders in the Blue Wave Bar (certain exclusions apply).

The BlueClaws have added to a wide-ranging beer menu with ... their own! In partnership with Heavy Reel Brewing Company of Seaside Heights, the BlueClaws launched Reel Claw last week. A 5% ABV Session IPA, Reel Claw is brewed with an oat and wheat heavy grist bill and hopped with Citra and Mosaic. The end result is flavors and aromas of tropical citrus and summer melon. Reel Claw is available around the ballpark including in the Blue Wave Bar. Outside the stadium, it's available at Heavy Reel Brewing and select locations around the area.

The best of the Jersey Shore elements remain around the ballpark. The Manasquan Bank Mini Golf Course in right field is a 9-hole family course that is open at every game. Each hole honors a former BlueClaws player including holes for Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels, and Carlos Ruiz.

The Boardwalk in centerfield consists of five popular boardwalk favorites like hoop shot, balloon darts, cat rack, goblet toss, and ring toss. The area is open at every game and is integrated into several BlueClaws ticket offerings.

"Boardwalk Bundle tickets are our most popular group offering," said Bob McLane, BlueClaws senior vice president of ticket sales and service. "In addition to a great seat at the ballpark, fans get boardwalk game tickets, a hot dog, soda and novelty ice cream. It's the best of the Jersey Shore in one great package."

5 & 10-Game Membership Plans also provide the full Jersey Shore experience, with fans getting dinner, dessert, and boardwalk game tickets at each game in their plan.

"These packages really provide the most bang for the fan's buck," said McLane. "These packages are built around the biggest games of the season and provide the best value to our fans."

The Theme Night calendar has several staples like Bark in the Park (May 7), Father’s Day at the Ballpark (June 19), Military Appreciation Night (July 7), Irish Heritage Night (July 9), and BruceClaws Night (July 23). Star Wars Night (August 5) returns this year and the BlueClaws will also soon announce Marvel Nights and other additions to their Theme Night calendar.

Fireworks shows follow games on Opening Night, July 4, and Fridays beginning in June. Thirsty Thursdays return with $2 Coors & Coors Light cans in the Sand Bar and ballpark-wide. Sundays are Kids Club days where members eat free. Kids run the bases after every game.

“That’s one of my favorite parts of every game,” said Ricciutti. “We always see the kids with ear-to-ear grins as they get to run around on the same field our players use every day. We’re capping a night full of memories with maybe the best one!”

The RWJBarnabas Health Promo Zone will be open at Friday, Saturday and Sunday games. Located next to The Boardwalk, the Promo Zone will feature games and fun for kids that will run throughout the game.

On the field, the BlueClaws will play for the second season as the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, debuting the new name and logos in October of 2020 at Convention Hall in Asbury Park. It will also be the second season the BlueClaws play as the High-A affiliate of the Phillies after being the Low-A affiliate since their 2001 inception.

“Family time at the Jersey Shore. A great ballgame with some future Phillies stars,” said Ricciutti. “What could be better?

“Let’s get it started!”

BlueClaws home re-christened as ShoreTown Ballpark

Shore Town is your town! The BlueClaws have been the Jersey Shore’s hometown team since 2001. Now, as the community gets ready to return for another summer, fans will walk through the gates of a stadium with a new name: ShoreTown Ballpark.

The BlueClaws ownership group, Shore Town Baseball, is comprised of local investors and led by longtime Minor League Baseball executive Art Matin. They spearheaded a series of ballpark improvements along the Jersey Shore path.

“The Jersey Shore sits at the forefront of our identity,” said Matin. “We can’t think of anything better than a day at the ballpark with friends or family. It’s time away from the grind of everyday life. It’s a ballgame, boardwalk games, mini golf, a hot dog, and a cold beer.

“ShoreTown Ballpark is the next step in that transformation for the Jersey Shore’s hometown team.”

Prior to the 2018 season, the team opened The Boardwalk, an area in centerfield with a series of popular boardwalk favorites including Ring Toss, Cat Rack, and Balloon Darts. Additionally, the Manasquan Bank Mini Golf Course opened that year. The 9-hole family course has holes named for famous BlueClaws players and is a great addition to the stadium atmosphere.

The transition of the team’s name to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, which was unveiled in October of 2020, was the next phase. The team played the 2021 season as the Jersey Shore BlueClaws for the first time, including a new set of hats and jerseys.

Now, as the curtain rises on the 2022 season, the BlueClaws are set to transition to a park hosting the same great fun, but with a new name, ShoreTown Ballpark.

This year, the team opens the Blue Wave Bar, a new restaurant on the Luxury Suite level that will be accessible by all fans at every game this year.

Among the items served in the Blue Wave Bar will be a clam boat (clam strips served on a split-topped buttered roll), a fried seafood platter, and crab fries tossed in Old Bay seasoning and smothered in a cheese sauce.

"While previously, this space was only open to suite-holders and season ticket holders, we felt that with this new renovation it was important to make this an area that everyone in the park can enjoy,” said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti.

As Jersey Shore’s hometown team, BlueClaws fans will feel at home while stopping into the Blue Wave Bar for some food or drinks at a game. Fans will recognize their town, beach, or favorite spot to catch a Jersey Shore sunset, featured among the many photos on display throughout the bar.

2022 single-game BlueClaws tickets will go on sale Saturday morning at 8 a.m. online and in-person at ShoreTown Ballpark from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., when fans can enjoy a meal in the Blue Wave Bar.

The BlueClaws open the season on Friday, April 8 with Opening Night at the Jersey Shore, presented by Jenkinson’s Boardwalk.

Bergesen returns to the BlueClaws, where he served as the pitching coach in 2018. He spent last year as the pitching coach for AA Reading after two years with High-A Clearwater. Bergesen pitched in the major leagues for four years with the Orioles (2009-11) and Diamondbacks (2012).

Blue Wave Bar to open at BlueClaws ballpark this year

The latest addition coming to the ballpark is the Blue Wave Bar, a brand-new bar/restaurant on the ballpark’s second level that will be open to all fans throughout each BlueClaws home game.

The Blue Wave Bar will have its grand opening on Friday, April 8 as part of Opening Night at the Jersey Shore. The Blue Wave Bar, which will have a coastal feel, will open with the ballpark gates and remain open for 60 minutes following the final out of the game. The bar will also host Happy Hour before every BlueClaws game plus in-game food and drink specials, and will be the perfect place to celebrate a BlueClaws win.

“Over the last several years, we have worked hard to bring the look and feel of the Jersey Shore to the ballpark. We started by adding mini golf and boardwalk games to the park in 2018. Last year, we debuted the Sand Bar, a fun outdoor food and drink space with live music. Now, we're excited to open a new bar and restaurant, the Blue Wave Bar, inside on the second level," said BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti.

Among the items served in the Blue Wave Bar will be a clam boat (clam strips served on a split-topped buttered roll), a fried seafood platter, and crab fries tossed in Old Bay seasoning and smothered in a cheese sauce.

"While previously, this space was only open to suite-holders and season ticket holders, we felt that with this new renovation it was important to make this an area that everyone in the park can enjoy.”

“We want fans to be a part creating this new space, so we are asking fans to send us their best photos of the Jersey Shore. This could be their favorite beach, a sunset photo they are particularly proud of, waves rolling on to the beach, a great shot of the bay, or an iconic Jersey Shore landmark."

Those with high-resolution photos of Jersey Shore beach scenes and other landmarks are encouraged to email the pictures to All photos selected for display will include a small plaque noting the photographer and location.

“We have always considered the BlueClaws to be a part of the Jersey Shore and through these photos, we will continue with the help of the community, to bring the best of the Jersey Shore to the ballpark.”

The Blue Wave Bar isn’t just limited to BlueClaws games. It will also be available for rent for special events, corporate outings, meetings, and parties apart from BlueClaws games themselves.

“This is a completely different space than we have anywhere else in the ballpark and it gives us the opportunity to host unique events year-round,” said Ricciutti.

The BlueClaws opened the nine-hole Manasquan Bank Mini Golf Course in 2018. The course, with holes named for former BlueClaws players, is a new ballpark staple and open during all home games.

The Toyota World of Lakewood Boardwalk, also opened in 2018. Located in centerfield, the boardwalk area includes popular and traditional games like ring toss, goblet toss, balloon darts, and cat rack.

“The launch of the Boardwalk enabled us to be very creative and incorporate it into the fan experience. One of the most popular with fans is the value-driven Boardwalk Bundle ticket which comes with complimentary boardwalk game tickets and a hot dog, soda, and novelty ice cream. It’s a great value for a family looking for a fun night out.” said Ricciutti.

"With this area now being open the public, and with us wanting our season ticket holders feel especially at home, we are extending an exclusive 10% discount to them in the Blue Wave Bar,” said Ricciutti (certain exclusions apply, alcohol not included).

“These areas certainly helped pave the way to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws,” said Ricciutti. “One of our goals has been to combine the best of the Jersey Shore with a night out at the ballpark and these areas have certainly been a key part of that. We’ve been thrilled with the reaction to the birth of the Jersey Shore BlueClaws over the last 15 months and look forward to many, many years here as part of the Jersey Shore community.”

The BlueClaws are set to open the 2022 season on Friday, April 8. The 21st Opening Night in club history will kick off the second season the team plays as the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.
