The Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach ends its 10th anniversary season Friday with an appearance by the Jerusalem String Quartet.

Founded in Israel in 1993, the foursome has become one of the world’s leading quartets, with honors such as the Diapason d’Or and the BBC Music Magazine Award for chamber music. The current lineup includes violinists Alexander Pavlovsky and Sergei Bresler, violist Ori Kam and cellist Kyril Zlotnikov. Its latest recording, on the Harmonia Mundi label, features three quartets by Béla Bartók.

“The depth of interpretation these musicians bring to chamber music makes masterworks feel both new and timeless,” said Arnaud Sussmann, CMSPB’s artistic director, in a prepared statement.

Friday's concert, set for 7 p.m. at the Kravis Center’s Rinker Playhouse, features Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 4 (in E minor, Op. 44, No. 2), and Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet No. 1 (in D, Op. 11). "These two works from Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky will be the perfect channels to experience the brilliance of these performers,” Sussmann said.

This will be CMSPB’s first performance at the Kravis.

Tickets are $75, which can be bought by visiting cmspb.org or www.kravis.org.
