The Jets claimed former Vikings offensive lineman Pat Elflein to potentially help a struggling unit.

Elflein, who has started at center and both guard spots in his four seasons, was waived over the weekend after being activated off the Injured Reserve list.

Elfein, who was the Vikings' starting right guard this season, was placed on IR with a thumb injury. The former third-round pick was Minnesota’s starting center as a rookie. His first season ended with a broken ankle in the NFC Championship Game.

The interior Jets offensive line has struggled all year. Elflein, who was replaced at right guard by Minnesota rookie Ezra Cleveland, could push for a starting gig or provide better depth for Adam Gase’s team.
