Jul. 30—MORGANTOWN, W.. Va. — Jevon Carter is on the move again.

The Phoenix Suns, fresh off losing to Milwaukee in the NBA Finals, traded the former West Virginia standout to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday prior to the 2021 draft.

Phoenix also traded its first-round pick (No. 29 overall) to the Nets. In return, Phoenix received guard Landry Shamet, who averaged 9.3 points per game last season with Brooklyn.

It's the second time Carter has been traded. He was drafted in the second round of the 2018 draft by Memphis and played in 39 games as a rookie with the Grizzlies.

He was traded to the Suns prior to the start of the 2019-20 season. Over two seasons with the Suns, Carter played in 118 games and averaged 4.5 points in Phoenix.

The Suns lost in six games to Milwaukee in the NBA Finals, but Carter did not see any action in the series.

Carter has two guaranteed years remaining on his extension he signed in 2020. He's due to make $3.65 million next season and $3.92 million during the 2022-23 season.
