Practice No. 14 of Dolphins training camp featured two more interceptions from Tua Tagovailoa, more playmaking from Jevon Holland — who has the look of a future Pro Bowler — and several creative blitzes dialed up by defensive coordinator Josh Boyer.

Mike McDaniel stopped practice to loudly address his team, and practice then ended abruptly. But players said McDaniel’s message was a positive one. Highlights from Wednesday’s session:

STARS OF THE DAY

Holland: The Dolphins’ ball-hawking safety intercepted Tagovailoa twice, the fourth and fifth picks thrown by Tagovailoa in the past two practices. Holland also made an incredible play knocking away a deep pass from Tagovailoa to Hill.

On the first interception, Holland jumped in front of a receiver to intercept a Tagovailoa pass and returned it 50-plus yards for a touchdown. On the second, Holland made another nice play on the ball to snag the pick in red-zone drills.

Tyreek Hill:

He caught two passes from Tagovailoa for sizable gains, then caught a TD from Tagovailoa in red-zone drills. But another Tagovailoa pass bounced off Hill’s shoulder pads; Hill was upset that he didn’t make the catch.

Lynn Bowden Jr:

He took a 10-yard dart from Tagovailoa and took it another 50 yards for a TD. He also was wide open and had a sizable gain on a short throw from Skylar Thompson.

Bowden, who caught three passes for 55 yards in the preseason opener, is making a push for a roster spot.

PLAYS OF THE DAY

The Holland pick-six. He appeared to read Tagovailoa’s eyes, made the interception and took off toward the end zone.

Christian Wilkins kept on blocking as Holland ran downfield, knocking over fullback Alec Ingold in the process. Ingold took issue with that, and he and Wilkins had a brief, heated exchange.

Elijah Hamilton snatched a reception by Cethan Carter and took it back for a touchdown. Thompson made a good throw and Carter appeared to catch it before Hamilton wrestled it from Carter. It appeared to be ruled an interception.

NOTABLE

A day after completing 11 of 30 passes and throwing three interceptions, Tagovailoa was sharp for much of practice but also made two more regrettable mistakes.

He should have seen Holland lurking on the pick-six, though it was a great play by Holland. It was a mistake by Tagovailoa, who was trying to get the ball to Preston Williams in a tight window, with multiple defenders around the ball.

The other Holland pick also wasn’t a good decision by Tagovailoa, who was trying to get the ball to Durham Smythe.

Otherwise, Tagovailoa displayed good accuracy on a bunch of short to intermediate routes in 11-on-11 work. He threw the TD to Hill in red-zone drills. And he zipped at least two completions to Trent Sherfield for first down gains.

Cameron Goode, Jaelen Phillips and Duke Riley all had sacks on a day there was lots of blitzing.

Emmanuel Ogbah batted down a Tagovailoa pass. Nobody in the league does that better than Ogbah.

Linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel and Wilkins both stuffed running plays for a loss. Wilkins was very good on Wednesday.

It was an uneven day — but more good than bad — for Bridgewater, who made a few nice throws (including a well-placed 20-yard completion to Cedrick Wilson Jr. and a 15-yarder to Gesicki) but also badly overthrew a deep ball that Sheldrick Redwine nearly intercepted and was off on a couple of other throws.

Thompson, who threw two interceptions last in Tuesday’s practice, began Wednesday with a bad overthrow before settling in.

Preston Williams dropped a pass over the middle. His bid to make the roster appears on life support; the next 10 days will be pivotal.

Salvon Ahmed showed good burst on a long run.

Noah Igbinoghene had good coverage on the aforementioned incomplete pass from Tagovailoa to Hill. Linebacker Channing Tindall also had a nice play in coverage on a Thompson throw.

Connor Williams, continuing his transition from left guard to center, had a few more high snaps that Tagovailoa snatched near or above his head.

Smythe wore the orange jersey given to a standout in the previous day’s practice.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and social media personality and professional boxer Jake Paul attended practice. Also in attendance: former Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman, who now works for the media site The 33rd Team.

AVAILABILITY REPORT

Receiver Jaylen Waddle, linebacker Brennan Scarlett, left tackle Greg Little, tight end Tanner Conner and fullback John Lovett missed practice with injuries. Little was present but not wearing pads.

Eric Rowe missed practice for undisclosed reasons.

Byron Jones remains on the physically unable to perform list; he hasn’t practiced all camp as he recovers from spring surgery in an area around his ankle and Achilles. McDaniel said he remains optimistic that Jones will be available for Week 1 against New England.

Raheem Mostert did not practice; he’s being handled cautiously as he returns from last season’s Week 1 knee injury when he played for the 49ers.

Terron Armstead, on a maintanance program, was limited.

Both should be fine for the regular season opener.
