JFK Museum opens after hours for special “Late Nights at the Library”

This summer, JFK Library is opening after hours for the first time ever to host four “Late Nights at the Library”.

The free events include admission into the Museum from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in addition to special activities. There will also be food and drink for purchase, and the Museum Store will be open.

“I am thrilled to invite our neighbors, friends, and visitors from near and far to check out the Library at night for the first time,” said Library Director Alan Price. “Through these special evening programs, we are hoping people can enjoy the Library at night as much as people enjoy it during the day.”

Attendees of the “Late Nights” will also be able to see the Library’s new special exhibit, Service and Sacrifice: World War II - A Shared Experience, which opens in July.

Here is the official “Late Nights at the Library” schedule:

Wednesday, June 21: Quiz Night with the Big Quiz Thing

Compete alone or with a team in a special trivia night, hosted by The Big Quiz Thing, that includes questions on the special Museum exhibit.

Wednesday, July 12: The Beantown Swing Orchestra

The Beantown Swing Orchestra will perform and offer dance lessons in between their musical sets. The group will also lead an educational session on Swing Era music and its significance in World War II.

Wednesday August 9: The Museum will be open late with no special events.

Wednesday, August 16: Forum with Historian and Author Matthew Delmont

Join Matthew Delmont, Dartmouth professor of history, as he discusses his new book Half American: The Epic Story of African Americans Fighting World War II at Home and Abroad. The book explores the important contributions of the more than one million Black men and women who served in segregated units in World War II, performing vital support jobs, only to be denied housing and educational opportunities on their return home.
