FHP: One dead in Arlington Expressway crash, troopers searching for man who fled scene

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department has reported a person was killed in a flipped vehicle crash in the 8200 block of Arlington Expressway Thursday afternoon.

At around 4:00 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 2004 Jeep Wrangler was traveling west along Arlington Expressway when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control and collided with the concrete traffic barrier causing the vehicle to flip.

The passenger, a 61-year-old man, was pronounced dead on the scene and was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

Multiple witnesses at the scene stated that a white male with a slim build, gray shorts, a t-shirt and dirty blonde hair was seen exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot.

It is unknown at this time who the driver of the Jeep was as FHP investigates.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
