Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s wife Jill dismissed President Trump’s endless personal attacks on the candidate as a “distraction.”
“Donald Trump looks at Joe and says, ‘Oh, my God, like, there is my competition. What can I think of to distract people?’ And that’s all he’s trying to do,” she said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union." “But Joe’s tough.”
Asked how she herself copes with the smears, she said, “I expected it. We know who Donald Trump is. We’ve known for four years … We’re a tough family.”
She also dismissed any comparison of Biden’s history of gaffes to the foul-mouthed White House incumbent.
“You can’t even go there. After Donald Trump, you cannot even say the word ‘gaffe,’” she said. “Nope. Done. It’s gone.”
The first presidential debate is scheduled for Tuesday in Cleveland.
