It's the weather prediction your community doesn't want to hear: Jim Cantore is on the way.

Cantore, the meteorologist known for heading to the heart of where a storm disaster is about to happen, confirmed Sunday night that he indeed is coming to Florida on Monday ahead of what's expected to become Hurricane Idalia. But where?

That's to be determined.

In a Sunday post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Cantore of The Weather Channel answered the many queries into his future whereabouts.

"Yes I am going to Florida. I am still sorting out the details with TWC, but I wanted to get the newest data before making a decision," he said in the X post.

Tropical Storm Idalia was expected Sunday night to strengthen into a hurricane, likely Monday, and then track up the Gulf and make landfall somewhere around Florida's Big Bend. Predicted to strengthen into a Category 1 or 2, there were also some forecasters warning the storm could be even more intense.

In 2022, during Hurricane Ian, Cantore went out into the empty streets of Punta Gorda to face Ian's 150 mph winds. Video showed him nearly being taken out by a branch, then holding on for dear life to a street sign as he made his way back to safety.

But hurricane season last year wasn't done with Florida, so Cantore returned. This time to the battered Atlantic Coast. Softened up by the relentless rains of Ian, in November the powerful Tropical Storm Nicole brought heavy damage to dunes, homes and hotels in Volusia County, and Cantore was in Daytona Beach Shores where a crew saw a pool deck collapse.

. "There are no beaches and there are no dunes. These beaches are like open wounds to the condos, homes, and hotels that line the shoreline," he said at the time.
