Remember Cameo? The app that lets you buy personalized messages from TV, movie and sports celebrities? It's having a resurgence this summer, thanks to the actors' strike.

More than 50,000 actors, comedians, writers, politicians, reality stars, content creators, athletes and even famous animals have used Cameo to augment their income and connect with their fans with video messages, video chats and direct messages. But since the SAG-AFTRA strike began in July it's become a lifeline. More than 2,400 performers have joined or reactivated their Cameo accounts since the strike was called, Cameo CEO Steven Galanis toldCNN Business, an increase of 137%.

“You just assume that they’re making all this money, they’re rich and famous, but the vast majority of them just aren’t,” Galanis told CNN. “Something like Cameo is certainly the better way for many of them to bridge the gap.”

Especially during a strike. Union actors have very strict rules about what they can and can't do during a strike. But last May the union and Cameo agreed that actors could count their Cameo earnings toward health and pension benefits, making the service one of the very few ways actors can keep working as the strike continues. And the extra money certainly helps when an estimated 86% of the actors in the union make less than the $26,000 a year required to qualify for union insurance.

Some of the stars who recently jumped back on include Alyssa Milano, Chris Wood, China McClain, and even SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher.

Short, personalized messages can run anywhere from $1 to $1,500 but the average price is $70. There's also Cameo for Business, which offers personalized videos that can be used for commercial purposes, average price $1,700 a pop.

If you're in the market, now's your chance to get a wedding proposal, a gender reveal, a fantasy football gloat or even just a hello from your favorite celeb. Here are ten Florida celebrities waiting to say hi.

The show ran for four seasons but was derailed by COVID, Hurricane Michael, a lawsuit, complaints from Panama City Beach residents and a move to St. Petersburg.
