Christmas has come early this year with the announcement of a How the Grinch Stole Christmas live concert event.

For the first time ever in the UK, the 2000 film will be shown alongside a live orchestra playing the iconic score by two-time Academy Award-winning composer James Horner.

This special holiday event will be taking place over two nights, first at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on Saturday, December 9 and then London’s Eventim Apollo on Sunday, December 10.

Tickets for both the Birmingham and London screenings are already on sale, with prices starting from £33.20 in Birmingham and £30.70 in London. Tickets are subject to an additional service charge.

These live concert screenings are becoming increasingly popular, with Disney's Hocus Pocus getting its own live event for Halloween this year.

London's Eventim Apollo will also be presenting a live concert screening of Twilight for the movie's 15th anniversary this October.

The live-action Grinch movie, starring Jim Carrey as the fur-covered humbug, remains a perennial holiday classic — and actually won an Academy Award for makeup following its original release.

In the live-action adaptation of the iconic Dr Seuss story, The Grinch comes down from his cave on Mount Crumpit to exact revenge on the Whos of Whoville for their Christmas cheer.

However, The Grinch is overwhelmed by the kindness of one particular Who, Cindy Lou Who (future Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen) and eventually finds his heart warmed by the most wonderful time of the year.

The classic film also features Mamma Mia's Christine Baranski, Star Trek: Discovery's Bill Irwin and The White Lotus star Molly Shannon as residents of Whoville. Ron Howard directed the film.
