THREE OAKS — Jim Messina performs at 8 p.m. March 30 at The Acorn, 107 Generations Drive.

Messina produced and mixed Buffalo Springfield’s final album, 1968’s “Last Time Around,” on which he also played bass as a member of the band.

After that, he and Buffalo Springfield guitarist Richie Furay formed the country-rock band Poco with multi-instrumentalist Rusty Young. Messina recorded three albums with Poco, “Pickin’ Up the Pieces,” “Poco” and the live album “Deliverin’.”

In 1970, Messina began producing Kenny Loggins, which resulted in “Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin’ In” and the formation of their duo, Loggins & Messina.

Through 1976, the pair released six studio albums and two live albums and became known for such songs as “Thinking of You,” “The House at Pooh Corner” and “Your Mama Don’t Dance.”
