Jim Ned Lady Indians are just two wins shy of ending state tournament drought

TUSCOLA, Texas (BCH Sports) – The girls basketball playoffs are down to the Sweet 16 in every classification, and the Jim Ned Lady Indians are one of the teams still alive.

Head coach Hunter Cooley’s team is back in the regional tournament for third year in a row.

So, it’s obvious Jim Ned doesn’t have a problem getting to this point in the playoffs. Getting beyond regional to state has been the issue.

What is it going to take for the Lady Indians to get to state for the first time since 2012?

Here’s what McKenzy Morgan and Cooley had to say.

Morgan said, “I believe we need to have confidence but also be humble and know that the teams are great. We just need to focus on our game and not play their game and work hard, talk and have fun, mainly.”

Cooley added, “Control your controllable. Don’t worry about what you can’t control. We can control how we play and how we handle each situation. The girls have done a great job of doing that all season. If we continue to play the way we’ve been playing, I think we have a chance.”

Jim Ned opens the regional tournament on Friday night against the Idalou girls. These two teams are the highest ranked teams in Region I.
