Jimmie women struggle with shooting in 74-56 loss at Mayville

Nov. 9—MAYVILLE, N.D. — The University of Jamestown struggled to shoot the ball in a 74-56 loss to Mayville State University on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.

The Jimmies shot 2-for-13 on 3-pointers and 37% from the field in the loss.

The Jimmies went 0-for-6 on 3-pointers in the second half as they were outscored 37-32. The Comets shot 44% from the field including 36% from deep for the game.

The Jimmies' two 3-pointers were made by Kate Busek and Hannah DeMars. Busek's triple came on the first possession of the game, which put the Jimmies up 3-0, for their only lead of the game. The DeMars 3-pointer came in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 29-22.

The Jimmies struggled with scoring depth as their two leading scorers — DeMars and Audrey Rodakowski — combined for 44 of the team's 56 points.

The Comets (3-1) opened the game on a 7-3 run before the Jimmies fought back to cut the deficit to 9-7. The Jimmies (2-1) fought back to make it a 19-16 game before the Comets stretched the lead out to go into the half up 37-24.

DeMars only took two 3-pointers in the entire game but led all scorers with 26 points.

The Comets were led by Jordan Zrust and Erin Walcker's 19 points.

The Jimmies are back in action at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, when they go to the College of Saint Mary.
