Jimmies men's volleyball sweep Viterbo in home match

Feb. 13—JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown took on Viterbo University on the final day of the UJ Invitational and they got a sweep (25-15, 25-23, 25-14) on Sunday, Feb. 12, at Harold Newman Arena.

The Jimmies (8-0) opened the first set on a 10-6 run and stretched it out to 23-12 before the V-Hawks (3-7) cut into the deficit to 23-14. The Jimmies put the first set away on a kill from Caylor Cox to make it 25-15.

The second set started much tighter as the teams were tied at 11 before the Jimmies went on a 4-0 run to take a 15-11 lead. The closest the V-Hawks got from there was within one at 23-22 but the Jimmies managed to put the set away at 25-23.

The Jimmies sprinted out of the gates in the third set taking a 6-1 lead. The V-Hawks cut the deficit to 15-10 but the Jimmies responded with a run to stretch the lead out to 19-12. The Jimmies sailed from there getting a 25-14 third-set win.

The Jimmies are back in action at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, when they face Ottawa University.
