Jimmies' Zito, Reisdorfer, Miska named to GPAC All-Conference teams
May 12—JAMESTOWN — Three of the University of Jamestown's big impact senior leaders were honored by the GPAC with spots on the 2022 All-Conference teams. The Jimmies three players were spread out across the teams as outfielder Santina Zito was named to the first team, infielder and catcher Katie Reisdorfer was named to the second team, and pitcher Kat Miska was named an honorable mention.
Jimmies head coach Kevin Gall said that it is important for programs to have players get postseason awards because it means the program is producing highly-talented players.
"I think they are deserving, they put up the numbers and they deserved it," he said. "Kat's been conference player of the year before and she's certainly deserving as well ... I'm glad we can do it, I'm glad they got some recognition for their time and effort, all three are seniors so it makes me happy."
Zito led the Jimmies with a .397 average, three home runs, 29 RBIs and three stolen bases. She also had 36 putouts and a fielding percentage of .902.
Zito said the accomplishment means a lot because of the work that she put in to recover from an injury and get back in time for the start of the season. She said there was doubt about whether the back injury would prevent her from playing in her final season.
"I didn't actually pick up a bat until Jan. 1 and so I worked a lot with our athletic trainers," Zito said. "Mitch (Lang), Steph (Nunez) and Shelby (Reed) were all super great and they really helped me get back for this season. "
Reisdorfer hit .341 with a .382 OBP and a .545 slugging percentage, with 11 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 19 RBIs.
Reisdorfer chuckled when speaking about how she first heard about the accomplishment.
"I'm at work right now so I went on break and my mom had texted me and she was like, 'You did, you made the all-conference team. I'm so proud of you.' So I was like, 'What?' So, I went on Twitter and that's how I found out," Reisdorfer said.
Miska served as the Jimmies ace this season going 12-9 with one save and 13 complete games in 136.2 innings of work. Miska had a 2.51 ERA and 7.84 strikeouts per seven innings, with 153 total strikeouts. Miska's strikeout total was good for fourth in the conference. Defensively, she had four putouts and 18 assists.
