Jimmy Kimmel’s Annual Halloween Candy Prank Returns – But He Definitely Didn’t Ask for It (Video)

Over the years, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has developed a beloved Halloween tradition for parents, encouraging them to prank their kids by telling them that mom and dad ate all their candy overnight. But given the circumstances of the pandemic, Kimmel put the joke on hold — or so he thought.

On Monday night’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the host informed his audience that he did have more videos from parents to show this year. But he wanted to make one thing clear: he definitely didn’t ask for them. This year’s challenge, he said, was completely “unauthorized and unwanted.”

“It felt like kids have had it hard enough lately, so we decided to hold off this year. We did not ask parents to do this,” Kimmel explained. “But a lot of the parents just went ahead and did it anyway. In fact, I think we got 200 videos. So, since the kids got pranked anyway, you know, why waste [the videos]?”

The host showed just a select handful of submissions, and it looks like the kids were extra mad this year. You can watch the full segment in the video above.

To be fair, there were no outright temper tantrums. For the most part, kids were just shocked and confused. As the first little boy shown asked his mom, “I thought you were on a diet?” When the boy’s mother informed him that it was a man named Jimmy Kimmel who told her to do it, he asked, “Is he a bad guy?” before exasperatedly dropping his head back into his bed.

That doesn’t mean there weren’t any big explosions, though. In a video of one set of brothers, a little boy dressed as Captain America boldly replied, “Mom, you’re a d—!” Another warned his mother that she and his father would get diarrhea from binging all that candy.

“Well, what’s Halloween without it, you know? Sorry kids!” Kimmel joked in response.
