State Rep. Shri Thanedar didn't win an Emmy this week, but his acting still nabbed a prize.

The Democratic U.S. House candidate for the 13th Congressional District in the Detroit area was given an award on Tuesday night's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for outstanding performance in a political ad.

Kimmel described the contest as "the worst of the … best of the worst" and aired six campaign commercials from across the country, including one that shows Thanedar telling confused voters (who can hear the ad's narrator speaking for some reason), "It's the voice from the commercial."

Among the losing candidates was Gov. Kay Ivey of Alabama for an ad in which she pulls a small gun from her purse.

Kimmel spoke briefly to Thanedar via a live feed from Detroit, asking him, “How bad an actor was the guy you beat?” Thanedar replied that he would “have to be very bad, because I have no acting skills.”

Thanedar, who defeated eight other candidates in the August primary, will face Republican Martell Bivings on Nov. 8.
