JJ Watt and Kealia Ohai Marry in Valentine’s Weekend Wedding: See the First Photos

Ohai to the Watts! NFL player JJ Watt and his fiancée, Kealia Ohai, married Saturday, February 15, in a destination wedding in the Bahamas.

Many of the couple’s teammates were present to watch the star pair exchange vows, including U.S. Women’s National Team player Crystal Dunn, who documented the nuptials on social media. Along with guests, Watt also hinted at what was about to happen Saturday evening.

That morning, the football star shared an image of his future bride at presumably their rehearsal dinner. On the wedding day, Ohai looked resplendent in a form-fitting gown featuring spaghetti straps and lace embellishments woven throughout the fabric. A later look revealed Ohai went with a long train and a near-blush hue for a gown. The bridesmaids, meanwhile, were dressed in the most popular color of 2019: navy.

Photographer Corbin Gurkin, who also documented Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s 2019 wedding, captured the official photos from the nuptials, with the couple revealing the first inside snapshots on Sunday. “The best day of my life,” Ohai wrote. “I love you forever @jjwatt.”

The NFL player, meanwhile, declared: “Best day of my life. Without question.”

Other stories from guests, including Dunn, indicated that the party was especially eventful on the dance floor. To make it easier for themselves on the dance floor, both Watt and Ohai changed into rather comfortable reception looks–featuring trendy sneakers. At the end of the evening, the couple regaled guests with a surprise performance, falling in line with those surveyed in The Knot 2019 Real Weddings Study, where respondents said entertainment was a top priority at the reception.

The couple got engaged in May 2019, during a romantic vacation at sunset. Watt was thoroughly prepared for the moment, having rose petals lead up to the waterfront setup where he proposed. “I’m the luckiest man in the world. #SheSaidYes,” the Houston Texans player, 30, wrote at the time.

“Still can’t believe I get to be with you forever,” Ohai added. “I love you @jjwatt.”

The Texas connection between the couple runs deep as Ohai is the captain of the Houston Dash. They first met through Ohai’s brother-in-law, Brian Cushing, who just happens to be Watt’s former teammate. Their relationship was later confirmed in an October 2016 podcast, where Ohai said: “The rumors are true. We are dating. I’ve known JJ for a really long time, and we’ve always been great friends.”

Prior to the wedding day, the couple got their marriage license and hinted that they were someplace tropical for a special event.
