JLo sorry she got paid a lot of money to perform for dictator of Turkmenistan
Jennifer Lopez is really, really sorry that she got paid a ton of money to perform for the dictator of Turkmenistan.
The pop star performed at President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow’s birthday party Saturday night, despite the fact that his regime ranks among the most oppressive in the world.
It is totally not her fault, however, because she did not know about his laundry list of human rights violations.
Lopez’s rep said in a statement to E! News: “The event was vetted by her representatives, had there been knowledge of human rights issues of any kind, Jennifer would not have attended.” (Right.)
The only way JLo’s representatives had no knowledge of Berdimuhamedow’s human rights record is because they have been made blind by all of the dollar signs flashing before their eyes.
Beyonce got herself into a similar mess after it was reported that she got paid $2 million to perform for Muammar Gaddafi’s son in 2010.
