Joanna Gaines Shows Us Inside the Set of Her New Cooking Show
Joanna Gaines will be launching a new cooking show on her own network, Magnolia TV.
Joanna recently gave fans and followers a sneak peek of the filming space via Instagram live.
Joanna Gaines is a very busy woman. Her new cookbook, Magnolia Table, Volume 2, was just released, AND she’s gearing up to host her very own cooking show for her upcoming TV network, Magnolia TV. While we don’t know too much about the show so far—it doesn’t even have a title yet—we do know a little something about where it will be filmed. And surprisingly, it’s not Joanna’s kitchen.
Joanna Gaines gave fans a tour of her gristmill over Instagram Live today. Chip also tagged along, mostly as a source of entertainment. The couple had purchased this old gristmill a few years ago with plans of transforming it into a bed-and-breakfast, Joanna reveals. (Recognize this gristmill? They were about 75 percent finished with the renovation when she had a change of heart. Joanna had always wanted to host her own cooking show. But using her own home kitchen as the set, while having her five kids around, seemed less than ideal. She needed somewhere else to film. And one day, as the couple were checking in on the construction at the gristmill, it suddenly clicked.
Built in the late 1800s, this old flour mill boasts an all-stone exterior that is almost two feet thick. While the couple renovated the bulk of the property, they were careful to preserve the home’s original rock walls and exposed woodwork, maintaining the ultimate farmhouse aesthetic. Live on Instagram, Joanna briefly took fans around the charmingly rustic property. The main attraction of the home is inevitably the pure and simple kitchen, where Joanna will be filming her show.
“Something I didn’t know you need when filming a cooking show—a prep kitchen!” she says as she pans her phone’s camera to reveal the previously uninhabitable basement, which now houses just that, the prep kitchen, lined with stainless steel appliances. The master bedroom upstairs will serve as a lounge where the kids will hang out on filming days, and one guest room will double as a greenroom whenever there are guests on the show. This old gristmill is far from your typical studio set.
While little is mentioned about the actual show, Chip does let it slip that Magnolia TV will launch either at the end of this year or the beginning of next. (Although the initial start date had been slated for October 4, 2020, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the pandemic happened to push it back.) Other shows to air on Magnolia TV include Growing Floret, which will tell the story of Floret, a family-run flower farm and seed company.
