Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias is officially in the works! The Netflix hit began filming its next installment in Atlanta last week, and our excitement level just went up a notch.

After all, it's been almost nine months since Netflix revealed that the series has been renewed, and since then, updates and details about the second season have come few and far between.

But wait, we've got more good news! We're happy to say that JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who plays lead Magnolia Maddie Townsend, is finally spilling some sweet tea about what's in store for season 2—including a very telling hint about that car crash cliffhanger! Here's what you should know from her new ET interview.

First of all, that car crash is important, yes, but it's not everything. JoAnna said fans should also expect to see some peripheral storylines from season 1 take center stage as we move into season 2.

"There are so many storylines that Sheryl [J. Anderson], our showrunner, and our writing staff laid out and so many things that you might not even be thinking about right now that we will address that become interesting plot points," JoAnna said. "But I think who's in the car and the stories that are launched because of this are so interesting too."

"Now that we're here and I'm starting to see it all unfold... Last year, you really got to know the characters and laid out the stories and we really dug into the meat and the potatoes of the three [women], where we are in our lives," JoAnna added. "Well, this year it's like, 'Honey, we're juggling. All of us are juggling.' There's a few more storylines happening to each of us."

Sounds promising! We love how the storylines of Maddie and her best friends Helen Decatur (Heather Headley) and Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliott) are always flawlessly woven together. It's part of what makes this show so special.

Now, here's where things get even more interesting. Even though JoAnna said her lips were sealed about the cliffhanger, ET's Philiana Ng (bless her heart) got creative and managed to land us a *clue.*🕵️♀️ Philiana speculated that when the identity of the mystery second person in the car crash is revealed, it will "fracture" Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue's friendship. And JoAnna definitely did not shoot down that theory.

"My god, are you a television intuitive?" JoAnna responded. "You lock onto so many things!"

Hmmm. Very interesting. But what could it mean?!

"It's all so human and there's all of that there. It's very real. You see the depths of our commitment to each other this season," JoAnna continued. "I think you see the depths of the realness of our friendship and the history and that we are all raising our children side by side, but we all are on our own journeys just naturally as life. You will see all of that. It's super human and super special and super real."

And as for Maddie's breakup with Cal (Justin Bruening), and the fact that her ex-husband Bill (Chris Klein) is still in her life, well, we have a lot of feelings about that—and JoAnna admitted, "By the way, so do I!"

"Maddie's got some stuff happening to her," JoAnna said with a laugh.

You can say that again! We can't wait to see what happens in season 2. How about you? Share your thoughts in the comments!
