The Lee County School District is in desperate need of bus drivers for the 2022-23 school year.

Bus drivers for any school district need a commercial driver's license, also known as a CDL.

In Lee County, applicants need to first apply for the position through the district by visiting leeschools.net/careers/bus_drivers.

After an interview, the district will walk applicants through the process of obtaining a CDL license. Applicants will also be paid for their time testing and training for the position.

"We will absolutely do everything that you need to become a bus driver," said Roger Lloyd, executive director of transportation for the district.

But it takes more than just testing, according to bus driver Annie Williams, who said it's important to remember to do it "for the future generation."

"It is a great job with not that much stress," she said. "It pays good and you get off weekends and holidays."

The district also pays out three bonuses for bus drivers throughout the year. Drivers who sign up before the beginning of the school year would be eligible for a bonus in October.
