ALAIEDON TWP. — A job posting on the employment website Indeed advertising a "team crew member" for a SONIC restaurant off Okemos Road has sparked speculation and rumors that the fast food chain will open a location in the Lansing area.

According to the Indeed listing for both full and part-time employees, the SONIC will be located at 3450 Okemos Road.

But Rachel Russell, a spokesperson for Inspire Brands LLC, which owns the Oklahoma City-based SONIC, said the rumors aren't true.

"While we always look for opportunities to expand our footprint and bring the iconic SONIC menu to new guests, there are currently no plans to develop a new drive-In location in Okemos," Russell said in an email.

And Chris Haddad, whose company, Dadco Properties LLC, owns the property at 3450 Okemos Road, said there are no plans to open a SONIC there.

"I know nothing of that," Haddad said Wednesday. "There’s no room in our development for a SONIC."

The land is currently occupied by an 8,000-square-foot commercial building that houses a Jimmy Johns and a Tailgaters Dunkin' Donuts, he said.

"There’s no room for a SONIC even if Jimmy Johns moved out, which they won’t," Haddad said. "It is certainly a rumor at the 3450 address. There’s no place for them here."

Jimmy Johns and Dunkin' Donuts are both owned by Inspire Brands LLC.

SONIC, founded in 1952, offers everything from burgers and hot dogs to ice cream and slushies. There are more than 3,000 locations in the U.S.
