Time series 2 has been given an official release date.

The second run of the prison anthology drama stars Game of Thrones and The Last of Us actor Bella Ramsey and Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker alongside Tamara Lawrance, instead of Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. It will premiere on Sunday, October 29 at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

The official synopsis for series 2 reads: "Time is a moving and high-stakes portrayal of life inside a women's prison. Arriving at Carlingford Prison on the same day, Kelsey (Bella Ramsey), Orla (Jodie Whittaker) and Abi (Tamara Lawrance) are thrown together to face an unfamiliar world.

"But even with the ever-present threat of violence within its walls, they discover that an unexpected sense of community, and a shared understanding, still might be possible."

Beyond our main trio, Time has gathered quite the ensemble for series 2, including Happy Valley's Siobhan Finneran, Alma's Not Normal's Sophie Willan, Waterloo Road's Alicia Forde, and SAS Rogue Heroes' Nicholas Nunn, among others.

The series will be three episodes long, at an hour each.

Time isn't Jodie Whittaker's first TV drama project since her time as The Doctor came to a close, though. She jetted off to Australia to film a female-led thriller called One Night, in which three women recount the dark experience they went through together.

The show was released in its entirety on Australia's version of Paramount+, but hasn't been given a UK release date at the time of writing.

Time series 2 will premiere on Sunday, October 29 on BBC One and iPlayer. Series 1 is available to stream on iPlayer now.
