Joe Biden Adopts German Shepherd From Delaware Humane Association

And he's MAJORly cute.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has a new family member, and he’s pretty darn adorable. The former VP and his wife, Jill, had been fostering a German Shepherd dog named Major and decided to make him a part of their family permanently by adopting him from the Delaware Humane Association (DHA).

“Today is Major’s lucky day! Not only did Major find his forever home, but he got adopted by Vice President Joe Biden & Dr. Jill Biden!” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday, November 17. “The Bidens have gotten to know Major while fostering him and are now ready to make the adoption official. Best of luck and thank you for being one of our Friends for life!”

According to the DHA’s Facebook post, Major and his siblings were “exposed to something toxic in their home” and had to be surrendered to the shelter, but all six have since been medically treated and adopted. The Biden family already has one German Shepherd, Champ, so Major will feel right at home with his new family.

The shelter added a few Major-ly (sorry) adorable photos of the doggo and his new dad, and Major looks so proud to be going to his forever home. Can you blame him? The internet was pretty excited about the Biden family’s new addition too, with many praising them for opting for a shelter pet instead of a dog from a breeder.

“Joe Biden adopting this amazing shelter pup sets a great example to everyone out there to go check out their local shelters and save a life or volunteer/donate if you can't adopt a pet right now,” wrote a shelter pet account. “He’s running. And fetching,” wrote another, a play on a popular Twitter meme. Others couldn’t help but notice the similarities between Biden and his new Very Good Boy. “Joe Biden and his new (very good) pup Major are like a top five humans-matching-their-dogs moment of all time,” wrote one user, saying what we were all thinking.

Clearly, Major is already right at home with his new family, and we think he’ll settle into his new role as the VP of Cuteness just fine. Now, when’s his first playdate with the Obamas’ dogs, Sunny and Bo?
